Alan visits the Prince

Posted on June 24, 2011 by Alan Warren in Uncategorized Leave a comment

I met the Prince for the first time last summer. Prince is the stunning Breeder Buck that lives and breeds at Heart Of Texas Trophy Whitetails in Brady, Texas and here’s a short clip of video I took with him yesterday. He’s still got a long long way to grow but he’s still got the personality of well….a Prince.

For those interested in deer breeding, let me know if you’d like to attend a seminar at Heart of Texas Trophy Whitetails on July 26th, let me know and I can get you the details/specifics. And you too can meet the “Prince” face to face.

Set your DVR’s for tonight at 8:00pm CT

Want to see what your kids are learning about hunting from the TV networks? I’m not sure you WANT to see but I think we all NEED to see what they are putting into the minds of America’s young people.

Animal Planet will debut an undercover, investigative program called “Captive Hunting Exposed” tonight at 8:00pm CT. Many fear this program will tell just “part” of a story in order to steer public opinion about hunting in general. But I fear it will also further divide the already-fractured hunting community.

Here’s a link to the promo that Animal Planet has been running for the show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SzkyGTRVdU

Take a look at see if it doesn’t make you feel queasy.

We’ll be talking about this program on the radio this Saturday morning and would love to have your “take” on it. Remember, set your DVR’s for 8:00pm CT tonight on Animal Planet.

TV Show Goof!

I admit it. It was my mistake!

Michigan’s Lake St. Clair is NOT the body of water that connects Lake Superior and Lake Huron (as I said it was on TV). It is actually between Lake Huron and Lake Erie.

It’s nice to see how many attentive viewers are watching. Thanks to everyone for “correcting” my geography!

In any event, if you get a chance to fish on Lake St. Clair….do it. It’s one fantastic body of water!

Pics from Prairie Dog hunt are posted

Would you believe 500+ shots a day and sometimes up to 1,000? I would! That’s what we experienced on a recent Prairie Dog hunt in Wyoming. To see the rest of the pics from this trip, CLICK HERE and “Like” the page.

And no. We did NOT shoot this hunt for TV (but I will be talking a lot about it on this weeks radio show).

Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll try and answer them on the air. Either email them or call 210-319-4351 and leave me a voice mail.

Shagnasty’s Anniversary Gift to his wife

Posted on June 3, 2011 by Alan Warren in Uncategorized Leave a comment

For you folks who listen to the AWO Radio Show, you know that we have an avid listening (couple) who calls in nearly every week. It’s Milton and Mildred Shagnasty. Yes, Shagnasty. I am not kidding.

These folks are a hoot and you never know what they’ll be talking about. Recently, Milton called to brag that he’d bought his wife the perfect anniversary gift. Here’s a picture of it. His name is Festus! He said that Mildred loves it and she has taught Festus to drink beer and he likes it.

We’ve extended an invitation for one or both Shagnasty’s to come into the studio and do a program with us. I’m not sure if that’s a good idea or not.

For you (Milton and Mildred), we really DO appreciate you all watching, listening and calling in. I wish I could get away with giving my wife a donkey for an anniversary gift.

By the way, Milton has a Facebook page. He says you can find him (quote) “under the normal spelling of Shagnasty”. If you’re on Facebook and want a new Friend….Milton may be a good one.
