I admit it. It was my mistake!
Michigan’s Lake St. Clair is NOT the body of water that connects Lake Superior and Lake Huron (as I said it was on TV). It is actually between Lake Huron and Lake Erie.
It’s nice to see how many attentive viewers are watching. Thanks to everyone for “correcting” my geography!
In any event, if you get a chance to fish on Lake St. Clair….do it. It’s one fantastic body of water!

I see you corrected your own mistake, thank you. I was born & raised in Detroit, and St Clair was my favorite lake to fish, I cought my first leagle Musky there right where the chanel from Harsons Island dumps into the lake. Also, I used to rent a boat at the south end where the lake meets the Detroit River, and fish in against the old sea walls of the mansions at Gross point. The waters there were just full of Smallies all Summer long.
I have always enjoyed your show and this one brought back so many good memories, it makes me want to go back for a visit. I was wondering if you got to visit the other island, the Indian Reservation on Walpole Island. It used to be fun as teenagers to see how other people lived. Looking at the map of the area it looks as though some of the chanels and islands have changed their shapes a little since I was there
Thanks for the good show..
God Bless,
Paul
Alan,
Very proud to see you do an episode on Lake St. clair. I grew up on this lake. The Small Mouth are awesome but the Walleye and Musky are altogether bountiful as well. I can tell you the best time of year and best location for each species. I feel fortunate to have lived next to a lake that people travel to from all over the world. Thanks for everything you do for our outdoors and our way of life.
